"CHAK DE INDIA !!!," by Vivek Sir '05-07'

People on both sides of the road, people on rooftops, people on walls, people on trees, people braving the rain, people bringing the city to a stop. People cheering any one who passed, people cheering anyone with a tricolor in his hand, people cheering any BEST bus passing, people sending a roar up in the air for just about anything. A cavalcade of bikers with tricolors, a cavalcade of cars with tricolors, a cavalcade of police on bikes, then a van full of dancers and DJ blaring out loud music, and then the open double decker bus with the heroes waving the tricolor. And everyone cheered the T20 world cup winners.

I was the witness to the cliché "India a cricket crazy nation" today. 60% of Mumbai came to a halt as the cricketing heroes of the nation returned from their winning escapades in South Africa. The adulation was something to be seen to be believed. Crores have been raining on these champs since the moment they lifted the coveted trophy. Dhoni and his soldiers have written history and that too against the nations archrivals. And the nation is proud of each one of them.

But what about the other heroes of the nation? Those who lay their lives every time we are up against our archrivals in a game which if lost the price you pay is nothing less than your life. Does anyone even remember these heroes? Leave alone crores, has anyone ever bothered to ask whether their families are getting a decent livelihood?

Wonder why we didn't give the Kargil heroes such a welcome? May be we were busy sulking about the Indian cricket team's performance in the 1999 World Cup.

"A Quiet Provocation" by Vivek Sir (05-07)

While returning home I saw some kids roller skating on the road. They would hardly have been 7 or 8 years old. I remembered my own days as a kid. As kids we would play with tops, fly kites, play cricket or carom. But today its the age of roller skates, skate boards, dirt biking and virtual games.

These kids have been born with these gizmos in their hands. Mobile phone and Internet is taken for granted and is a "hep thing" for an 8 year old to possess. Internet is something without which homeworks are out of question. Google is the present version of the good old Britanica Encyclopedia. You aint kool if you dont have the biggest Bey Blade (most of us dont even know whats that) or if you dont watch, or play or have a set of Pokemon gizmos.

I know I am too young to talk like this but think of the time when our kids will come to this world. Blue tooth enabled appliances will be the norm. Simulated strategy games which will be played in real time would have taken the place of roller skates. The latest version of windows which would run on your palm tops would be the "Windows dont know what". The latest Pentium offering would be Pentium 10^10 ghz processor. The hottest selling toy would be "BOOMLAKUA" and I have no idea what that would be. But one thing thats for sure is that times would definitely change and so would be the Technology and we who think are using the latest technology proudly flashing our high tech gizmos in front of our friends would suddenly become outdated or in terms of an IT professional "Obsolete".

But the million dollar question is that will we be able to instill the same values, the same culture, the same ethics that our parents have given to us? Will the sense of patriotism that I somehow feel is slowly diminishing in todays youth be wiped out completely by then? Will people start becoming obsolete like Technology?

Did you say NO???

Well, think about this.........the number of divorce cases that have been on a rise steadily, the number of extra marital affairs that have been on a rise, the plight of the knowledge worker that is gaining momentum, the number of nuclear family system that on an everyday basis are reported, the deterioration of the amount of time that people spend with their families, the amount of time that people give to their children is decreasing, the number of old age homes that have been rising steadily....just to name a few.

Are we working towards our own doom?

Think about it or one day we might be "obsolete like Windows 98..."

"Discovering Ones' Mission in LIFE" By Vaishali Nanda

First, I would like to tell you that you won't find it by standing
still. What's important is that you challenge yourself in something,
it doesn't matter what. Then by making consistent effort, the
direction you should take will open up before you naturally. It's
important, therefore, to have the courage to ask yourself what you
should be doing now, this very moment.

The key, in other words, is to climb the mountain that is right before
you. As you ascend its slopes, you will develop your muscles,
increasing your strength and endurance. Such training will enable you
to challenge still higher mountains. It is vital that you continue
making such efforts.

Climb the mountain in front of you. When you reach the summit, wide
new horizons will stretch out before you. Little by little, you will
understand your mission.

Those who remember they have a unique mission are actually the strong ones.
Whatever their problems, they will never be defeated. They can
transform all of their problems into catalysts for growth toward a
hope-filled future.

Life is about scaling one mountain, then facing the next one, followed
by one after that. Those who persevere and finally succeed in
conquering the highest mountain are victors in life. On the other
hand, those who avoid such challenges and take the easy route,
descending into the valleys, will surely end in defeat. To put it simply, we
have two choices in life: We can either climb the mountain before us
or descend into the valley.

Now, the choice is Yours................!!!!!!!!

"My EXPRESSION" By Lalit Aggarwal

Hi my sunshine,
its my destiny to attach myself with u always
for i couldn't turn away my head from u,
and walk away from ur side.

Even for once i need to vanish from ur life
even i promise to my heart that i will be gone
only to find myself in a fix
cause i am too dearly with u,
cause u always will be my spirit,
cause u always will be my lantern in d dark.

I've seen u always as simple as u r
with or without ur notice,

even they told me that i overreacted
even they told me i am such a foolish
even they told me i am out of my mind
even they took a pity on me

But my care for u is higher than passionate,
.......my care for u is higher than sexual lust ,
.......my care for u r is based on purity,
with never wanting to stain this relationship.

I will always see this as our rainbow path
always precious n beautiful n shiny from afar

Just like me... who always will be a STAR!!

BLOGS FROM A TRAIN TO MUMBAI - Version II by Vivek Sir (05-07)

"So do you want to mary her", he asked, " yes", he said. "Then whats the problem", asked the old man, "She doesnt want to marry me", he said still looking out of the window.

"So does that make you sad", said the old man, "Yes it does", Said he. "So what do u do about it", "I go to the mandir every day atleast five to six times a week" said he. "And why doesnt she want to marry you", " because she is from another religion", he said.

"Do you still meet her?" " No we are not on talking terms any more", "Why, that's so sad" said the old man. " So do you go to meet her" asked the old man. "no I don't, I go to to the mandir instead, whenever I think of god I feel I am close to her" he said.

"You should go to her as many times as possible and to the mandir only once in a while and you can tell her that you have given her a place which is higher than that of god's" the old man advised.

The sardar from Infosys Mohali smiled and continued looking outside the window, as if he was trying to search her beloveds face in the river below the bridge.

"My Muse," by Anupam Sharma

The eyes of my muse are filling me with enthuse
Her Cooing in my ears is pulling the fuse
Just a little tickle on the bowels is enough to noose
‘Oh my word’ playing footsie is all about letting loose

Lemme tell you she is so very cute
Enough to make you go mute
The way she looks at me with doe-eyes
It brings a lot of delight, fun n surprise

My heart sings a different tune every time I see her frolicking
Makes me want never take me eyes off her
Her gait “blows the water out of me”
I wonder how this could this possibly be

The crooning continues day and night
Along with the ‘enamoring’ thoughts and flights
Her captivating words make me feel I never wanna move
Even when she is through I feel the vibrations in my groove

Poetry by Ashish Sharma

"I close my gleaming eyes, & just go straight,
into the beautiful valley, across a golden gate."

"I take these baby steps, as the beauty is divine,
orchids smelling like holy essence, sky with a notorious shine."

"I hold the leaves, & slowly dance on the cloud,
as clear blue water, rushes past & smiling aloud."

"I light up a candle , as darkness sets in,
the beaming moonlight, purifies each & every sin."

" My soul runs freely, mingled with the wind,
as heavens whisper slowly, 'there's something i can find'."

" Beyond the closed eyelids, lies a splendid fate!,
a breathtaking ride, magnificient beauty & ....... a soul mate."

I hope u all would like it. I am sorry but i write without any titles................

"God’s Greatest Gift," by Anupam Sharma

Take off just five minutes from your busy schedule to read this. May be you will acknowledge the God’s greatest.

Whether you’re flying high or crawling, winning or losing, cruising or struggling there are always two people in this world who will be there for you, giving you love, support, protection, taking care of you, nurturing you

Those two people are your parents. It may sound a little clichéd but we are all a reflection of two beings, which fill our life with their tenderness. No matter how selfish a person may be but there is one role in life where he/she will give his all, under all circumstances and in every condition, and that role is of a parent.

In their fold is the greatest peace in the world and in their feet it’s heaven for all.
Rich or poor, literate or illiterate make all the sacrifices that they can just see a smile on their children’s face. Each and every inch in their heart is filled with love for their little ones.

They foster us for twenty years shaping our thoughts and us. Whenever you find you’re alone treading a lonely path there are two persons in this world you can fall back on without any inhibition. If you feel choked they will give you their breath. No amount of dedication is better than that of a parent. They are ready to brave the storm for you & they will quietly take it on themselves without even you noticing or knowing it.

They turn into immortal beings ready to take on the world to protect you. They cast aside all their fears to alleviate your fears, provide us inspiration to be whatever we want to be.
Their commitment can never be questioned nor can their dedication.

If it was in their hands they will make the world most beautiful place for their children, they will make their lives hell to make us live in heaven.

If we dedicate our whole lives to them even then we can’t even pay back for a single moment they’ve loved us for each second in their lives. Be it sun or rain, gain or pain their love will never wither, their blessings will remain with you forever and ever.

That’s why parents are the God’s greatest gift because your god is in them.

I would like to close with this Quote from Chuck Palahniuk

" Your parents, they give you your life, but then they try to give you their life. "

Anupam Sharma

"The Monsoon Side of Life," by Sunil John

The first drizzle in the state and standing near a roadside "chai-wala" I see everybody running for cover under the roof. Heavy breeze before the shower brings in ample quantity of wind filled with dust. Soon the wind turns heavy n some weak billboards are off their place. Children hide themselves behind their mother who had just finished with their days school.

Suddenly there is large outburst of water all over the place. It seems as if the heaven doors are
opened to bring a much needed relief from the tiring heat. Sipping thru my tea the downpour just fastens n some droplets fall in my cup but still I don't feel bad. I walk past the droplets and feel the droplets against my face. Oh the rejuvenation felt is just better than any creams available in the market.

Time is less 2 submissions to be made next day but the amazing weather change take my legs to a garden which is filled with freshly drizzled raindrops. Greenery, water n me – u never feel so loved by nature ever before. I slip off my slippers n roll up my jeans n walk thru the grass while the rain still heavies on me. I brush through the trees , care for the new flowers, plants & find a new positive energy being built in me. Feeling the nature's beauty is such an amazing experience.

Half an hour of stroll in the rain rejuvenated me completely. Mixed in so many emotions I just have to ask u, when was the last time u felt so close to nature… ??

Quotes and a Poem, by Arshdeep Mahajan

Girl is a synonym of Beauty and Nature ---Arsh
Always keep a child alive inside you, to not let you become a part of mob of crores of adults,
giving this world an ugly face.---Arsh
If you want to grown up as a human, you have to learn till your last breath.---Arsh

and a poem just came across my mind while thinking bout the numerous work v need to do in the upcoming two or three months.

Things seems to be a little bit complicated now,
Dont know which way the wind will blow,
Yes i am concerned about all of us,
How will we find which way to go.

Arshdeep Mahajan

Some additions from the Editor;
Can we live upto the expectations
or will the hesitation within us show
No matter which way the wind blows
we will surely reach the desired shores......

(may the force be with us, amen)

"The Girl in Red," by Vivek Sir ( 05-07 )

Blogs from a train to Mumbai:

The slipper in her left leg slipped out of her leg, so she pulled at her mothers hands and her mother let her go. She went back to take her slippers but saw a piece of gems (oval shaped chocolate filled candy which we all loved when we were kids and I still love them) lying there and forgot about the slipper. Picked up the gems instead and walked up to her mom. But then she realised that she had only one slipper on. So she released her other slipper from its obligations too.

But mom was angry as to why did she picked up a gems from the ground and asked her to throw it off. So with a heavy heart she went back to the place, where she had picked up the gems, and droped it. Picked up her slippers and went back to her mom. But she came back in a while just to check whether her beloved gems was still there.

Thats what happens to us all the time, why do we have to throw away the gems and pick up the slippers? Why cant we have what we think is good for us and not what others think is good for us?

This we are taught from an early age and thats why we end up living somebody elses life and not our own. We are always bound by obligations and seldom have time for ourselves or for our feelings.

When will I be able to live my life? May be one day will come....
